Ultrasn0w iPhone Unlock (Baseband 5.14.02) Coming Two Days After iOS 4.2 Release

[iOS 4.2 Will Immediately Bring iPhone 3G & 3GS Ultrasn0w Unlock While iPhone 4 Will be Unlocked Later On]

November is getting closer and closer and that’s the month when Apple will finally unifyiPhone/iPod touch and iPad iOS versions and, more importantly, bring iOS 4 features to the tablet. iOS 4.2 is going to be available in the near future for download, and, as soon as the official OS comes out we’ll have proper means to unlock some iPhones running the latest Apple iOS firmware versions.
iOS 4.2 Unlock ultrasn0w iPhone 3G iPhone 3GS

The iPhone Dev Team appears to be in possession of an almost final version of ultrasn0w. The unlock will work on the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G with 05.14.02 baseband and running either iOS 4.1 or iOS 4.2 as soon as two days after Apple releases the latest iOS update, if not sooner.
According to a recent series of tweets, the iPhone Dev Team should only test the ultrasn0w unlock for a couple of days at most to “verify stuff”:
marwan: @MuscleNerd thanks.. how long would the wait be for 4.2 any approximate time
MuscleNerd: @marwan if you’re on 3G or 3GS, just a day or 2 at most after 4.2 is public (just enough time to verify stuff)
We’re not that surprised to hear that both the iPhone 3G and 3GS will be unlocked in a few days/weeks, but we’re more interested in seeing the iPhone 4 freed from the shackles of various carriers. The iPhone 4 comes out of the box with a brand new 2.10.04 baseband so you’ll have to wait a little more until hackers figure it out and modify ultrasn0w in order to also unlock the latest iPhone model running iOS 4.1 or iOS 4.2
We’ll be back with more news regarding iPhone unlock, but due remember that we’ll never advise you to proceed with such shenanigans even if they’re as official as they can get (jailbreaking and unlocking) and you’ll be the sole responsible of whatever nasty thing can happen to your iPhone in the process.
